According to the ads the Powertrax make the vehicle a lot more drivable around town.
Any body have one of these in the rear of a cruiser.
I am considering buying a powertrax for the rear and moving the lockright to the front.

Comments/recomendations?

Check out Aussie Lockers too ...

I have them in front/rear on my rig. *Love*'em, ok around town too.

Cheers,
Cahil

Power-Trax no slip in the rear of my 60 for 3 years.

No issues, good on-road manners and works perfect offroad. IF you have driveline slop or other issues the locker will magnify them. Mine had new ring and pinion and u-joints installed at the same time so everything is nice and tight.

powertrax

85 fj60 with rear powertrax for last 3 months very happy

Powertrack is the way to go although in OZ check out McNamera for cool lockers. Should be cheap for you.

I had a Powertrax in my 60 for about 3 years and it always worked fine. They do have a few quirks however. Every now and again it would just go BANG - this is a common thing I'm told. The other quirk is torque-steer that occurs when on and off the gas on curves. It wasn't so bad with the 2F but with the 350 it would dance all over the place (to the point my wife wouldn't drive it. I ended up replacing it with an ARB...

would a locker in the front make a differce on road w/hubs unlocked?

No. Probably best if you leave it in 2H though.

But, I'm not so sure how it would work if you leave the hubs locked, and run it on road in 2H? (I know that some do this in winter, that way when they need 4H, they just yank the trans shifter, no need to get out and lock the hubs.)

Any comments?

The Power-Trax no slip has never done that on my 60 series. Maybe yours was a earlier unit?

This is what me lockright does I was hoping the powertrax didn't. Are u sure u talkin about the powertrax???

I have a Powertrax No-Slip in my FJ62 installed by the PO. I have had no problems with it since I bought the truck 3 months ago. The torque transfer was easy to get used to - I just don't accelerate or decelerate in corners. I do get the occasional "bang" from it - going very slow, turning, and or backing up. I have no experience with any other lockers but I am quite satisfied with this one. Traction off road is excellent.

This is pretty much my experience with the Lockrite I put in the rear of my FJ62. I haven't had any bangs yet though. The "torque steer' diminished a LOT when I went to the new 33x10.5 AT's. The old, soft, street 31's just weren't up to it I guess.

Makes such a GIGANTIC difference offroad that I will live with the minor, on road quirks.
