I can't find ATF Dexron II or III anywhere, at least not without Mercon in the mix with it. Dealer has Johnson Power Steering Fluid they told me to use, but I don't trust them.. What are you guys using ?

Dexron III labeled ATF from a major producer should be fine. Don't be scared that it is also Mercon approved. The trade names are standards not ingredients. Most Dexron III fluids will meet both specifications as they have very similar requirements.

From the Chevron Website -
Most Ford vehicles manufactured between 1980 and 1999 specify a MERCON ATF. ATFs that meet DEXRON-III requirements usually meet the MERCON requirements as well.

I am using AMSOIL 100% synthetic ATF but it is total overkill in the power steering box. $2.00/quart Chevron would make me happy.
