Hi Guys!

Here's the story,

I went to Midas to have my power brake fixte, they told me that I was losing Vacum from the vacum canister (rusted out) because they didn't have a replacment canister on hand they took the inlet and oulet hose and plugged them together to bypass the system. Since then the power brakes work very well but the speedometer and the temperatue gauge aren't working any more! Anyone knows what's going on?.... was that a bad Idea? can you guys think of any more problems that could go wrong with this setup? I know I won't have any power brakes if the engine dies...

Thanks for your help!

no idea about the brake setup

the speedo is a cable liek on a vinatge sled or bike, has a inner and outer cable that goes onto the T case the inner cable spins to move gauge, probably slipped out of the gauge when they were monking with you rig.

The temp gauge is probably a loose wire or something I would just install a mechnical one you just screw it in right below the thermostat very easy.

cheers

I thought is a good idea keep 2nd hand vacum canister .. or other " bottle " to replace in it function.

Also, check your speedo cable in the t-case I my experience is the first place to check. And temps, I'm with Eric are a loose wire os somthing like that.

Yep... well it end up that the Temp. gauge was disconnected in the engine compartment, don't no why? and my speedometer cable is now broken! probably from opening the hood + bad routing of the cable I guess...

Any way has for the brake vacum reservoir I'll just leave it as is for now shoulden't cause my any problem, buy a new one this summer.

Thanks guys for your time!

i would install a old empty fire extinguisher with a tee connection on top, a good cheap vacuum reservoir. you might have brakes now but use them repeatly and you will find out the power assisted brakes and clutch will soon vanish. in a emergency situation, it could mean life or death!
just my $0.02!
