I've scoured the photo thread and search in vain, but cannot find anyone who has powder coated the OEM 5-spoke alloy wheels. I'm torn between buying aftermarket rims it just taking my current wheels in for a gloss black powder coating. I've seen the examples of the TRD wheels powder coated in black and like it, especially with the black front/rear bumpers. Has anyone powder coated the original wheels black and, if so, do you have pics to share?

I powder coated a set of 4 Runner wheels and threw them on my Tacoma.Really looks great. Had a paint shop do it right, oven and all. Much cheaper than new wheels, plus Toyota quality. Post pics!

Here's a pic of the OEM wheels powder coated a semi-gloss black. I like how they came out and it really changes the appearance of the LC. Admittedly, flipping the tires around so the black sidewalks were facing out also helps. At about $80 per wheel, it was a fairly cheap alternative to buying new wheels.

$80 is cheap!!! Where is that

Beautiful SE Michigan (Detroit metro). I thought it was a good deal as well considering they media blasted them and cleaned up some curb rash. When we lived in the DC area, a shop quoted me about $150 per wheel.

Just find a good powder coated. $150-$300 per wheel usually includes stripping the old powder, repairing any rash and straightening.
If the price you get seems cheap just make sure they are at least cleaning and scuffing the wheels. They won’t do all above for $50 per wheel.
If you’re in NYC area, I know a guy.

Dallas here ....

Quote from ARS wheels in Carrollton 135 a wheel out the door. Doesn’t seem bad. $10 extra for each center cap ....

Anyone got any other Dallas DFW recommendations ?

Anyone done this recently? Thinking of going the powder coat route on 18’ OEM wheels.
I had my 2017 OEM rims gloss black powder coated by A WordPress Site | Just another WordPress site
They do outstanding work, all inclusive (just leave the truck) $800 total.
I could not be happier! Tires are still OEM, too.
Here are some shots, in different lighting conditions:

Nothing against powdercoating the OEM wheels but if you're doing it solely because it's cheaper, you're likely not saving that much ifanything. For instance, I bought 5 new Icon wheels for $1095 delivered, then sold my factory wheels on craigslist for $500 cash. Ultimately new wheels cost me $119 per wheel (since I timed it with needing new tires anyway).

@bend, where did you have your wheels done? I’m up in Portland, and if you wouldn’t mind sharing the price.

Thanks
NW Wheel Repair here in Bend. New BFG Ko2's and powder coat 4 wheels. $1350......I gave him my nearly new stock tires that came with my CPO package from dealer. Dave is the owner , great work and service.
