I have searched and read several posts with anecdotal support to either install or not install a diff-drop. I'm wondering what angles people are actually seeing. For example - would a Tundra 3.5" lift have the same angles as a standard (non-Tundra) 2.5" lift?

I used an old iphone with an inclinometer application to measure my CV angles. I am running the Tundra IFS swap with Bilstein 6112's (on second from highest setting) and the Tundra factory spacers. I have SPC UCA's and am seeing roughly 17 degrees of CV angle on each side from horizontal. (granted this is with an iphone in a case....not exactly NASA equipment here...)

Is this OK? And what are you seeing?

Nice, been wondering this as well. Also if anyone has a stock Tundra would be curious what those angles are. I just used the inclinometer app w/ phone flat on CVs and got 14 degrees on left and 13 degrees on right, no diff drop. Which is very odd considering out setups are nearly identical! All I could think is that I've got some 6k miles and springs have settled whereas yours are still high.

Thanks - I forgot about that thread!
I would still like to see some others particularly with a lot of miles on a 2.5" lift or so chime in. If there are folks running greater than 17 degrees for 50-60K miles - I'd feel more confident that I can keep my rig this high without a diff drop or (gasp) lowering the rig a bit.

Now that I think of it I'm going to measure my height again - I seem to remember measuring over 4" of height increase at the front - let me double check tonight....

I'm curious what someone with stock tires and suspension sees.

On my 2013 LC with the Tough Dog 2" lift and no diff drop my super-accurate, highly-calibrated* iHandy level app on my iPhone reads ~10.5degrees on the right CV and 12.5 degrees on the left. Left side is less accurate because the clamp was on top so I had to measure next to it (sorry I was too lazy to get my keys and start the truck so I could roll it forward).

I do have a diff drop kit sitting here. Whenever I get around to installing it (probably later this month) I'll update my numbers.

*it's usually accurate with about 1 degree
