I just finished the EVCL repair (Engine Valley Coolant Leak - that's the acronym I've seen that's the closest to looking like EVIL!), and I wanted to see if anyone can answer a quick question for me: unlike the GX470, the GX460 DOES have heater T's. Mine are showing a few red crusties around the hoses, so like with my 100, I want to make sure and replace them while the cooling system is drained.

When I looked online, it appears they only sell the T's in an assembly with the heater hoses. Thinking I must be looking at it wrong, I contacted my local Lexus dealership, and they confirmed what I was finding.

Since the hoses on mine look fine - and not wanting to spend a minimum of $88 for each "assembly" - I wanted to know if anyone had any knowledge on part numbers for the T's? They appear to be the exact same T's as a 100, but knowing Lexus, it also wouldn't be surprising if they turned out to be a slightly different size than what is abundantly available through Toyota.

Anyone changed just the T's before? If so, do you have a part number or know if they're the same T's as in the LX470?

Thanks!

If it's the same Tee's as on my 100 series AND what you're referring to, I replaced the rear Tee that's near the firewall on my Hundy. The original was plastic and literally crumbling. I pulled what was left off, went to my local hardware store, matched outside diameters and purchased a brass one. I believe it was something like a 1/2" I.D. and 3/4" O.D.?? It's been quite a few years since I did that. But, never needs one again, end of story. There is NO reason you need to purchase Lexus parts for something you can find in a hardware store!
Now, this is assuming that we're talking about the same heater hose Tee.

When I did the tees on my 100, I didn't want to screw around with trying to pull hoses off brittle t-barbs, and off the other end where they'd been baked on for 8 years and 200K miles. So I took a razor knife and cut off the hoses at the 3 ends NOT on the plastic tee. Bought new hoses and tees (OEM). Assembled them outside the truck, and the install was MUCH easier. No worries about fishing plastic chunks out of the abyss of tiny hoses, etc. etc. It's pretty much a "once-in-a-lifetime" repair, based on my estimated ownership of the truck (kind of like the EVCL, which I also just did). And on the 100, you didn't have to drain much coolant since the tees were up high. So in that regard, it's not like it's "that" much easier to do in conjunction with any other repair that requires coolant draining.

Agreed, but the brass Tee's were a lot cheaper! ;)

Somewhat related, When I had my Navigator it had a Tee connection that was notorious for failing after awhile and had plastic binder/clamps molded to it from the factory. We had to buy a whole hose assembly from Ford to fix (Expensive), or cut through the plastic clamps, then mush the Tee in the hoses, fish out pieces with picks. I replaced it with a same size Tee from Autozone and some hose clamps for about $6.

Thanks to those who have responded. In case someone else finds themself in my same quandary, I wanted to provide answers to the questions I originally asked:

(a) From Lexus, the heater T's on a 2010 GX470 are not available separately. They are only available as two, 3-hose assemblies. Each assembly comes with hose clams securing the Ts, but it does not come with clams on the "free" ends of each hose
(b) there is no separate part number for the Lexus Ts
(c) the 100 series Land Cruiser T's are a different size. On the 100, the two top barbs are one size, and the bottom barb is smaller; on the Lexus, all 3 barbs are the same size.

Depending on where you get them, you can take whatever dollar figure you pay for each 100 series heater T and just about add a zero to that price for each Lexus assembly.
