My 2010 lx570 has a weird popping/creak noise over bumps when temps are below 50 degrees or so. Seems like the noise occurs when the chassis is flexed like over a dip in the road. I though it was the upper door hinge on the drivers door as I had some play in it. I replaced the hinge but no different. Noise comes right in that area though. Anyone experienced this?

random thought: is it your tweeter in the a pillar? Sometimes loose connections can cause weird popping feedback.

Not that. It's a metal on metal sound. Only over certain bumps

I’ve had popping sounds from my skids making contact to the frame when going over speed bumps. Do hou have aftermarket skids? Have you tried rolling the window down and listening?

Nosies like this can be hard to pinpoint:

Not the skids. Up much higher like the side of the dash or something

Here's a video of the noise. Listen for the crunching pop sound. I was able to get it to do it by hitting the brakes hard to induce the flex that seems to cause the sound.

Same sound? What year is yours. I was thinking body mount so that would be nice and easy

It was a 2011 LC. I can’t tell by your audio but it was a metal popping sound over certain bumps.

Sound like it came from the pillar area? Did you torque the bolt or just hit it with the impact? Wonder if I need to access the other end of the bolt to keep it from spinning when tightening the nut

Yes the A pillar. I thought it was the tweeter speakers and it drove me nuts. I couldn’t figure it out and had the dealer look into it. They figured it out and tightened it.

Thanks that seems to have done it. I first checked with a ratchet and it seemed plenty tight. I then put the impact gun to it. Got 2 turns tighter. Haven't heard the noise since. Fingers crossed. Thank you so much for the help. You saved me potentially hours/days of diag.

You’re welcome. I’m pretty much useless mechanically so I’m Glad it worked out so far.

@TTO5 @Sinister Can you guys post a pic with the bolts circled? I'm daft and intermittently heard this sound a long time ago and have since gotten used to it. TIA.

Yes I'll get a pic put on here. The bolt takes a 17mm socket. Not sure what torque spec is so tighten at your own risk. Stay tuned for a pic

This is the mount I tightened. Driver side next to the running board just behind front mudflap.

Thank you! How tight did you go? I saw two turns with impact, but I don’t know if you could give some approx lb ft it’s supposed to be.
