I'm getting a pop up that redirects me to the apple App Store on my Iphone 5. My pop up blocker is turned on. Only on this website.

I'm new here but been reading for a couple weeks with no issues on my iPhone and for the last two days I randomly get directed to candy crush or some game in the iTunes Store. Not sure if I missed something or this is new but it just started for me two days ago.

Exactly the same issue.....

Using the app, or viewing the full site on a mobile browser?

I don't have an iPhone to test with.

I am getting these now. It happens when I open a link in another tab and the ad on the new tab is the jelly splash. iPad with iOS 7 using safari. Pic attached. You can see that the Expedition Builds tab is loading and this one has the jelly splash ad.

Edit: it isn't limited to new tabs being opened

I'll have to catch it, using Safari on my iPad, and THEN connect the Macbook Air to the iPad and view the page using the Web Inspector tools under Developer

yea...guess I get to fumble my way around the iPad today...

<rant> I hate the iPad ... far prefer the Macbook Air or my 7" Tab 2 </rant>

^ agree...I have a love/hate relationship with my iPad. But I keep using it :-/

I refuse to use forums apps. I have the iPhone5 and when coming here through safari, I get redirected to the app store everytime, to candy crush.
Been happening for 3 months now. This is the only forum site that this is doing this on. Hope this helps.

it does, and I know what network is causing the issue...they are "chasing" it now, but given their recent performance, may just get dropped.

For the last week almost every time I have opened mud with my iPad, a pop up for a video game opens. It takes over the whole screen and cannot be reduced, and requires safari to be closed and reopened. I have seen the add on the regular page, the game is called clash of clans...

Actually, it doesn't seem to be a pop up, it sends me to the App Store to buy there stupid game.

I'm not sure how to post a link, but the game it advertised at the bottom of the page...

Since it's on my phone I can't give you anything other than this which is the redirect to the App Store. It just happened two minutes ago.

Reset my iPad and it hasn't happened since. Of course it has only been an hour. It was happening every other time I opened a new page.

Pop up ads

Hey Woody,

Here are a couple more data points that will hopefully help you debug this.

Ipad v5 (or whatever they have branded it as)
IOS7

Same style of pop up as Arcteryx, not the style or same SW call you were working on previously. This style is actually is an OS based message that originates in your Forum SW. Not the same as the previous ones, that were actually 100% ad based and generated.

For clarification sakes, I will call this the ARC pop up (lucky you, Arcteryx lol). It is getting the call from what ever banner ad is displayed. For me, it is typically Spotify, but I don't think it has anything to do with the advertiser specifically. But the ARC pop up has a "Cancel" or "OK" option. And no "X" close function like the previous pop ups.

I have been seeing these ARC style pop ups for the past 3 weeks. I called a buddy of mine who works at Google and after a bit of research he has said that there is a glitch that has been exposed in Chrome & IOS7 that allows the OS to send these pop ups. Google blames it on an "un-named" internet ad company and not their browser. It is a LOT bigger issue than just MUD, but the call to the OS only works on certain versions of Jetsoft software (your forum software). And supposidely the "fault" lies with Jetsoft and their SW allowing these ad calls when they should be blocked by default.

Whew...that was long and boring explanation, but I hope it helps. If you report this to Jetsoft, they should be able to close the open call routine that is being exploited. The solution that SHOULD work and Google is working on to close the exploitation it is:>
Click on the 3 horizontal bars on the far top right side of the browser -> Settings -> Privacy -> Do Not Track = OFF. (Yeah, double negative)

I will let you know if I hear any additional info from my friend @ Google. Feel free it IM if you have any specific questions you want forwarded.

Thanks,

Blake

Thanks Blake.

Jelsoft/Internet Brands on it's way out on this site. I've been working on the process to migrate to XenForo later this month. It will likely require 24-48 hours of site downtime, BUT will add a bunch of new features and a new/updated software that is moving forward smoothly (unlike the vB 4.0 disaster that I avoided...)

Good to know that there is a traceable means of fixing it.

LOL! Of course google points the finger away from chrome. It keeps it's "un-hackable" going strong. think it's up to 3 million now...
