I thought there may be some experts who have seen this problem.. I bought a dual flush American Standard Toilet.

What is the issue is the bowl(sitting part :) ) holds too little water. So each time someone takes a number 2 it leaves streaks... uugh. I have tried all the adjustments and cannot understand why the bowl level is soo low. The tank is normal hieght and I adjusted it to the level it is supposed to be.

Any ideas? When I say low...it only has a few inches in the bottom

Thanks, BB

There is no adjustment for bowl level, it's determined by the trap plumbing, which is cast in porcelain. What you've got is what you get. The water flows over a lip, the height of the lip is the highest the water can ever be. You can see this by adding water slowly to the bowl- it will never go higher. The only possible issue might be if the toilet isn't adding water to the bowl after the flush. I'm not familiar with every toilet so I can't tell you where to find the line that adds the water, but if you try adding water to the bowl after its done its thing and you find you can get it to go higher, you have a problem with that feature. Normally there is a 1/4" tube feeding the overflow in the tank.

Not all bowls are made correctly, take it back and try another. Mike

If you don't like the "low flow" North Americn style ... you will really dislike the "inspection platform" feature of many European toilets...:D

I just hold the handle down until the bowl is almost empty. I know, it defeats the purpose of lo flo but

We all do, but he needs a creepy crawley to erase the skid marks...:whoops:

I'm with the post's above, take the lower bowl back, and find one with a deeper trap.

Thanks!

I've had the toilet for too long now to return.

I'll send a letter with some pictures to American Standard. If the water level is too low maybe they will warranty it?? never know. I delete the pics with the streaks :)

Might check and see if there is a "cash for crapper" program in your area (seriously, there is here). Local contractors offering $100 for your old throne..

Not sure if this is helpful but we recently replaced some toilets here at home with American Standard "Champion 4" toilets. They are high efficiency examples however we are not having any problems at all. At first I was sorta surprised by how fast the flush was but they never clog, never streak, and they are made out of some sort of china that supposedly has microban hidden in it. The microban supposedly slows staining of the bowl and the tank and hinders bacteria, mildew and mold. Anyway, two points, 1. High Efficiency American Standard toilets can work well. 2. They almost always have a warranty of 3 to 5 years and sometimes like these Champion 4's, 10 years. I guess I'm suggesting returning it for its replacement; you surely haven't had this problem and this toilet for 3 years yet right? I think that is the minimum warranty for AS, at least the ones that I've seen. HTH. :cheers:

Did the toilet ever have the correct water level? Like Spike said the water in the bowl comes from a 1/4" tube that runs from the fill control to the over flow tube. If it fell out of the overflow tube then the bowl will have a much lower water level.

Toto = #1 low flow
They can take anything you can produce with one flush.

Case study - Scum rock Cruise Moab upgrade to Toto in '08 with no problem. Prior to the upgrade 50% of there toilets would be clogged daily - If you were there you know what I'm talking about and probably guilty.:flipoff2:

Go Toto and you never need to look back:hillbilly:
