Please roast this newbie

Hi all,

First post, don't pull any punches.

My CVs are leaking and I just heard the grind when making a hard right turn last night.

Tried a hard left hand turn and didn't hear anything but can definitely see a bit of grease on the left and a decent amount on the right.

Dealership looked at them a few days ago (brought in for TB and WP) and said they would reboot not necessarily replace the axle. So I was planning on rebooting this weekend until I heard that noise.

Now the question is: should I reboot still or should I R&R? I can probably get someone to rebuild them for me tomorrow if I really call around.

Once it make noise its toast.

Used low mileage oem is what i would do in this case.

How dare you ask such a lizard brain question.. jk.

I'd agree with the guy above, it's done. Not a big deal, you have to pull them out to re-boot anyways. In my experience it's easier to replace rather than re-boot. Less steps and less goop on the work bench.

Replace them - you won't have any lingering concerns after a mere reboot as to whether you're truly in the clear or not. My $.02....welcome aboard!
