I recently had this same issue. I would hear and feel a grinding noise that would start when I would take my foot off the accelerator and go away when pushing on it. I had a broken wheel bearing

Well seeing as how this thread is about a noise coming from the front axle...

Been having this exact issue lately. Wheels bearings were replaced in Feb, and I dont have a grinding noise so I dont thinks it that. Also replaced my hub flange so I really doubt its that and the CV would have to be insanely worn to be slipping splines on the hub flange. I have replaced all the balls joints and the stabilizer links with Moog. Based on the intermittentness of the issue and that I went off roading this weekend would notice to happen during loading/unloading of weight on the wheel during sudden changes in height (coming over or off of rocks) and during turns (sometimes) leads me to think stabilizer bar link or one of the ball joints.

Well, sorry for the very belated reply... it appears it was the sway bar links (front) after all. I bought a replacement pair in March, and I didn't have time to get them installed until last week! The bushing in the right side link was completely deteriorated and ground away. Replaced them, and no more mystery noise! Now, I am hearing sounds from my rear axle that I never noticed before. Looks like replacement of the rear links is now on the agenda.

@MissouriLC we seem to be on similar journeys! I recently replaced my front links after sitting on the parts for far too long - that noise is gone for me as well. My rear links also seem shot now - one was super loose. I'm going to just get the Trail Tailor 80/100 rear links and call it a day. I should've gotten his extended front links too.
