Last September, I had my front pads and one rotor replaced, the other one resurfaced, and they're already acting up again. Brake shop of course wants to replace my pads and rotors again (for ANOTHER $500+). They said the pads are shot, and the rotors are pocked with holes and need to be replaced.
First off, I want to be sure that's not just BS. Unfortunately, I was not nearby when they shop called, so I couldn't come and look for myself. If there is a problem, I want to get to the root of it, instead of buying new rotors every year / 10,000 miles.
It may or may not be related, but ever since I bought my ride (2 years ago), the brake lights get stuck on from time to time, especially when it's cold. If I jiggle the pedal, they turn off. PO said that it was just the spring under the pedal keeping the lights on. But thanks to recent events, I have my suspicions that it might be more than that. Maybe my brakes are dragging?
Is there anyone in the Phoenix area who has a good location (driveway, garage, curb, what have you), a decent jack, and some brakes know-how, who can take a peep at the ole girl and shed some light on the subject? FWIW, I'm good at handing tools over and keeping the cold beers coming.
Anyone? Bueller?
