Hello Guys (and Gals)

My chrome trim was looking a little weathered and was peeling do i decided to fix it w/ a little rattle can of semi-gloss black and also did the area around the rear license plate. I had origionally planned to do that area w/ plasticote but picked up the wrong can :( (note to self, seperate projects/materials....) I will probably go over it with plasticote in the near future. I plasticoted the bumpers at the same time and i am happy with the results. Overall much better than the white. I am considering doing the mirrors also but think it might be a little too much.

Let me know what you think...

Nice! Do the side from as well, I love that blacked out look but honestly without the trim it looks like you got hit and replaced them with unpainted.

Funny...I want my bumpers and trim painted white to match my truck...

I think it looks good , love the white hundys with black.

2 and a half for the front, 3 for the back......

I think it looks great!

I think it looks awesome. The white with black trim always appealed to me as well. Nice DIY job!

That is exactly what I thought. I like the painted bumpers look, especially on light colored vehicles.

Thanks guys......

I wholeheartedly agree!

From what you've experienced so far how durable is this stuff? Do you think if I went into a car wash it'll get scraped up and worn? Or if I took my finger up to it would it make indentations after it's cured.

Was there anything special when applying the spray cans on? Were you able to just spray it on without any primer and there wasn't any leaking or orange skin patterns when it dried?

It'll hold up to a pressure washer if applied right. Just wipe the area clean before spraying it. Its been on my LC for about 3 mos now and still looks good. Just did my 100 on sunday.

Wow that looks so clean.
When I did mine, it wasn't as pretty

Shogun,

Nothing special for application. I used rubbing alcohol to clean the wax off the paint and masked off the approppriate areas and sprayed on 4-5 coats about 15 minutes apart. I had my garage door come down on the front bumper and forced its way around to the front from the top before i could stop the door and was amazed that it didn't mark the bumper at all. It is very durable.

hks3sgte.

The blacked out hood makes a huge improvement in glare on sunny days. I think it looks cool too. I love mods that have both form and function..........

Take a look at fighter planes. They black out the area in front of the cockpit to protect the pilots eyesight

I understand that it's not for everybody but it is for me.....
