I'm about to do my whole truck. It's new to me and the clear's failed/gone on the top and hood, so polish won't cure it. Will be going with an anthracite gray-silver color, and probably some kind of darker charcoal gray or black for the license plate surround, grill, etc.- gotta get some more dip first. In my case it'll look better than what I got, and should clean the whole thing up a bit.

Instead of "The clear coat is gone or has failed, and it looks like sh!t.", you need to work on "It has an incredible authentic patina."

Heh. Personally? That would be my move. It was the VERY first thing wife noticed, though, and she's all "we just bought this nice new house and if you can fix that, the truck will look 100% less 'old beater,' so... fix it." You know how it is. I'm content to drive a woods truck all the time, but she wants it to look good.
