I'm looking at coating my trim pieces and hood in either plasti dip or one of the many bed liners out there. I've not done this before so I was hoping to get info on how your project has held up.

Did you sand the paint off?
Spray or roll on?
Problems you ran into or something you wish you hadn't done?

Thanks for the info!

I used plasti dip on my hood because it was cheap and easy. Its been on for 6 months or so and looks like crap. Just do it right the first time and use monstaliner.

I own a couple shops in the caribbean and we use the Industrial polymers bedliner for damn near everything. i have my personal truck fully coated in it inside and outside as well as a ton of the plastic parts. We have even coated steering wheels with it. It has held up great for 5 years and counting

Some of the bedliners are very hard to clean. If you go the bedliner route, make sure the surface is relatively smooth. I just installed a hood blackout "sticker." These are potentially easier and better looking than painting, though the colors are limited. Cheers, J

How about some pics?

I second the plastidip not being a good choice. It's may be good to see if you like a certain look because it can be torn of easily, but that's the only reason I would recommend it. Mine was compromised by bug guts in a couple of weeks. It does last longer With a clear coat but I still would have used a liner first had I known what I know now.

Bumper

SuperStan that is an awesome bumper! If that's the one you homemade you need to post some more detailed pics!

Thanks for the info guys, guess I'll be buying some Al's or Raptor liner

Another vote for Monstaliner.

Used it, very good stuff, expect it to last a long while.

No rubber crumbs make it much nicer to look at than with crumbs.

Dan.

Thanks for the compliment! It is indeed my homemade bumper. I've several detailed pics and full intentions of making a thread about it when I finally get it painted so that people can see the finished product. I may even make some kits, or copies for sale if as many are interested in the forum as on the street. However, there is a moderate amount of modification necessary for direct bolt on of this particular bumper.
