Don't take your side moldings off unless you are ok with breaking clips/not getting them back on.

I'm a pretty big fan of plasti dip and have a bit of experience with it. In my opinion, guys on here that love to go off road, don't dip your rims. It will definitely hold up for a while but you're going to be reapplying on the rims pretty consistently.

I dipped my grill too and it started peeling in a few spots where rock chips would hit it or a fat bug would rip some up. Instead I peeled what I could off of that and used a few coats of bed liner on the grill for durability. No issues in over a year with it!

And as for durability, yeah this stuff is plastic but it's not crap. The durability is almost always limited by the users application. In most cases people aren't going to take the time to properly apply plasti dip and are going to complain like crazy when it doesn't perform like they expect. With proper application this stuff can stay on for like a year or two, close to three in some cases I think. But in most cases it is going to start peeling in certain overlooked application areas, and will lead to disappointment of the customer.

I'm not saying people on here aren't applying properly however, if you're going to use plasti dip, don't complain unless you apply it with care.

I Plasti Dipped the rear badges on the truck I sold last year - at that point the badges looked like the day I had applied it and it was almost five years since I had sprayed them.

Nice, that's great to hear!

Interesting. I need to do some catching up. Is the prep hard, do you have to sand?
No sanding at all, very little prep - just get the area to be painted very clean (after I clean I cleanse it with alcohol to make sure there are no finger oils left behind), the tape off and spray.

For bumper that has paint scraped or peeled off , applying plasti dip makes it smooth again ? Or the dip from where the paint was missing still shows ?

If you put several coats on it'll probably smooth things out a bit. Probably won't look any worse than peeling paint.

It doesn't make it smooth and you are going to be able to notice the difference between finishes if you are planning to do a small area of the bumper.

Here's a tip for plastidip removal. Use wd-40. Soak whatever plastidip you want removed for 5 mins with wd-40 and power wash it. The plastidip will melt like butter and is much easier than peeling. Don't forget to reapply wax if you expose wd-40 to any metal.
