I would like to see the research that these actually do work. And, I would think they could have picked a better spot if they do. Why route wildlife in and out of the Catalina transfer dump.:hmm:

wow, what's that work out to per square foot? o_O

I'm pretty sure they spent years studying migration routes before putting it up. If it cuts down on the road pizzas, I'm all for it.

Don't worry - I'm sure they will put up "Deer Crossing" signs so the deer know where to cross!

I know one person that has hit two deer in Catalina and another that hit one. Big cities like Catalina attract them varmits - that's why I live in the boonies:skull:

WTF????

Exactly what kind of animals are crossing that thing, dinosaurs?

Garbage dump and transfer station, isn't that like Walmart for critters?:flush:

There's a short section of highway in SE Utah, about a half mile long, that is a kill zone for deer. They do a good job of keeping it clean. The one time we beat the cleaning crew, we counted 13. That was at 80, so we probably missed several.

Not only is it brutal on the critters but also a safety hazard. Mass casualties, and impaired migration can have impact animals further up the food chain. A similar structure in this area would make a big difference.

I would be curious to see the research on this. Why the overpass vs an underpass? I would think animals would be less resistant to passing under the road.

All these years commuting through Catalina I have never seen deer road kills (further North past the county line is another story, and further South towards Tangerine road).
Javelina, and lots of them are squished just in front of McDonalds We have always had the joke that their fast food wasn't all that fast.;)

I was told this was left in the plan when in concept decades ago, and never reevaluated. It is more developed now.

Hwy 89? I think I know the one. The highway going North out of Meeker Co. is also a route you want to travel during the day.

I believe so, it's one of the mountain passes near Monticello.
