Okay, I searched and read too much w/o finding what I wanted so this is the new post on a much discussused topic.

Anyone have a pic of their cruiser with 31's and an OME medium lift?

Please?

Thanks!

See if you can get your hands on a Jan/Feb '06 issue of "4wd Toyota Owner"... they featured a OME install on an FJ60. I think it was a Dakar spring set, not sure if it's what you're exactly looking for, but I am sure you'll enjoy reading it.

I have Dakars and 31" BFG ATs on my FJ62. It's dark out right now but I'll take pics of the rig in the morning for you.

I wish I had 33s on there but I bought the tires long before the suspension and it was what made sense at the time. Now I'll have 31s for a long while (those BFGs take a long time to wear out!) ...

CXS,
I know this isnt exactly what your looking for but here is my rig with 4" alcans and 31's. Rear tire is low so thats why it looks a little low back there.

You're gonna have to get 35s & 4.56s, Chris!

I wish, I have 33's in the garage that I have to get mounted on my new rims. 35's may be down the road, depending on if I buy a 40 or not.
Either way I want to stay with 33's for now to see how i like it with the new lift and 33's.

You know Steve, I was happy with my stock setup until I found Mud.

Now I have a list :D

The old springs will be the next to go and who knows what after that.

Forgot to take a look at your Aussie sliding glass, another item on my list!

Took my 62 to the car wash yesterday and blasted the rear gate glass, not a drop inside. Thanks again to you & Chuck - great work ;)

Here you go, Red Cruiser. My red FJ62 with OME Dakkars and 31's. The tires are BFG AT's. The front springs are mediums and the rear are med/heavies (IIRC), with about 5k miles on them since the install. I hope this helps.

Thanks Jason - that does help. How's it compare to your rig before adding the OME? Is the "advertised" 2 - 3" lift fairly accurate? Did you do the whole thing - shocks, bushing, etc.? How's the ride?

Mine's my DD and want to know whether I'd regret it or not on the city streets.

I don't think you'll regret it at all. It did raise the car 3" or maybe 4" (in the rear), but it drives a lot better. Mine spends most of its time on the road (it's my DD and ski vehicle) and it's been a real help. The bounce from the old worn out leaf springs is gone. The ride is a bit stiffer than before, but that's ok. It's definitely made the rig a bit more responsive if I had to do a quick turn or something. I like it.

And yeah, I replaced everything and went the OME greasable shackles. I figure'd it was worth it to do it now cause I don't want to be taking the suspension again anytime soon.

Good luck!

here's my 62- not an OME but a BDS which is really close. 31x10.5's. 10mm OME shackles in the back (the rear springs wanted to invert b/c of shortness)

I want 33's! :D

Thanks for the direct side shot, it shows there's plenty of room for those 33's!

My 31's are new and will have to do for a while but I don't think it looks bad either. I'll go with the lift and see what happens :D

Go with the 33's. I did it with 31's and ultimately sold the 31's and bumped up. BDS lift with 33's. I think my shackles actually added a bit more

RC- So you can figure out how much lift you'll be getting, I measured the distance from the ground to the high point of the outer fender (basically the middle of your avatar). For me, it's 34 1/2" on the front and 35 1/2" on the back. I hope that helps (I can submit a pic tomorrow if none of the above makes sense).

It certainly doesn't look bad, and the 62 seems to like the 31" tires, but I do think 33"s would look (and I hope drive) even better.
