haha, no, that orange house is across the street from me, I was on my roof...lol

When did that start....saw nothing when I was in sedona on Sat., we had fun running brokenarrow.

I heard it was yesterday around 11am. News says it has grown from 1000 to 3000 acres now and the fire crews are worried that with the dryness and wind that it will get much bigger.

Type 1 air attack team is supposed to arrive sometime today.

Great! My cabin is up the hill and down wind from that fire. I know that it's miles away now, but it is so dry up there who knows how far it can spread. Only time will tell. I think I'll go uptonight and get some valuables out of the cabin.

If you need to access your cabin from 89, fraid not, it is closed to all traffic between the lookout and Sedona.

Good luck,

Unfreakingbelievable, they pre-empted an entire Stanley Cup Final hockey game to show a bunch of newsies explain weather patterns and distances to landmarks and relative humidity and dewpoints and on and on andonandon... I got it in the first ten minutes, there's a fire outside Flag, it's threatening homes, yadda yadda yadda. Give me updates when something new happens, or even when nothing new happens. Give me a ticker across the top or bottom, break in for a few minutes, whatever. That was rediculous. They eventually put the game on in a pic-in-pic, which gave me a 10" view on a 36" screen- I couldn't even read the score, much less follow the action. /rant

With DirecTv, I was watching on the West Coast HD feed.......No interruptions there.

Many folks would only get their notice to evacuate from local media. I cannot guarantee that any of our Search & Rescue team, Fire, Sheriff, or Police staff could make it to everyone. If one life is saved, it's worth dropping sports coverage.

Sorry, EMS is a priority over games.

Of course it's worth dropping sports coverage to save a life. If you think the news media has that on their mind when they preempt something, I'd say that's fairly low on their list of benefits. I have a hard time believing the wall to wall coverage isn't justified by nothing more than ratings and advertising revenue. Cynical I am, but still, the phony altruistic intentions of journalists leave me gagging :ban: Talking heads, empty skirts and suits all of them. Hopefully their self indulgent behavior will actually have the side benefit of helping someone.

Here's hoping that the life and property damage is minimal. Not to mention the natural beauty of the area.

Your right, 89A is closed between Sedona and Flag. My cabin is 6 miles east of the fire in Munds Park. So I went up and drove along Schnebly Hill road and took some pic's then went to my cabin and collected valuables.
