Ok, I pulled the starter this morning. Got to love air tools, took all of about 30 min. Most of that was jacking it up and removing the tire. The big brown truck brought me the starter contacts and plunger from C-Dan this afternoon, right on queue.

So now my question is this: I know I need to drain the coolant prior to tearing into the PHH. But at I am looking at it and, NOT having the starter in the way is kinda nice. BUT in order to do the full drain/flush I need to be able to start the engine, AND I don't want any coolant splashing inside the opening that the starter goes in.

So should I just replace the starter brushes and plunger and get that in working order, THEN tackle the coolant drain/flush/fill and PHH? Or anyone have any grand ideas to kill both birds with one stone.

Thanks!

If you can sufficiently protect the exposed portions where the starter attaches, why not go ahead and drain the coolant, change the PHH, install the starter, fill with water, install the flush kit and hose, turn on the hose and start her up to cycle through and flush?
