I was hoping to be the owner of a nice 86 white 4 runner last wednesday. I called a guy in south lake and talked to him for quite some time about his truck. We planned on meeting in Carson on wednesday afternoon to check out the truck and buy it. I had cash in hand and the flat bed trailer all ready to go. My dad and I were waiting for him to call and then we were on our way.

So on wednesday he calls and says he cant meet that night. He said he wanted to take the off road lights off the front bumper and he wanted to clean it up a little. I told him to pull the lights off and not to worry about the mess, i'll clean it if I have to. I told him we were all ready to go and I wanted to come get the truck today. So he says alright ill see what I can do... I sent him a text an hour later (cause it doesnt take a damn day to pull a cheap ass pair of hella 500's off a bumper) and he said he cant do it today... Told him I work the next few days so we plan on monday. He said "I wish my dad wanted to build a crawler with me, I'll hold the truck for you for sure until monday when you can pick it up." So The past few days Ive been under the assumption I was going to pick it up on monday, and Ive been all excited to do so.

On my way to work tonight I get a text saying that the F%^ker sold it to someone else for a grand more. He didnt even give me a chance to make an offer, raise my price, or even say a damn thing on the subject period. Just sells it right out from under my dad and I.

Nice huh?

Maybe he'll read this, if so.... :flipoff2:

Been think'n of selling my 86 4Runner I bought last year that is sitting in the driveway. PM me the price range you are looking for and I'll post a picture or two later...if you want.

Sent some photos.

Interestingly enough while I was taking the pictures a guy painting the house next store expressed interest in buying the darn truck...but I'm not in any hurry to sell. Let me know if you want to stop buy and take a look.

Regards,
Keith

Haha, that's funny. I can't see my sent messages, so I'm not sure if I wrote the email correctly. I didn't receive any new emails. Here it is again. Nvflytyer1@aol.com

Damn right!!!
Very nice shape!! Nice Keith!!

Few years back I had my custom soft tail for sale. Dude from Cali calls asks a few questions and he said he was interested and was gonna come up and check it out. I waited ALL EFFING DAY on a sat. Dude never showed, never called, nothing!!
When I was first looking for a rig, there was a beautiful 85 mini down in sac.... We talked back and forth for a few days and I was gonna head down and check out the rig.
Day before I called him to make sure everything was still on... No answer. Leave message... No call back. For the rest of the eve. Heard nothing.
Called him the day I was supposed to go... Never heard a word.
He sent an e mail saying he was sorry, but had a family emergency and we could meet on X day. Same deal... Day before I called, no answer etc. Called a couple more times, then I got pissed and M/f'd him on his voice mail!!

I don't get what people get out of wasting other people's time like that.

Valueable lessons learned though by these experiences.

I was selling a set of springs for 50 bucks... Dude in susanville wanted em and asked if I'd drive half way. I told him NO! Not for a 50 buck set of springs. I'd waste that cash on the drive out, not to mention if he never showed or didn't want em.

Maddening!!

It doesnt make any sense to me either. Its not hard to pick up a phone and be honest with someone instead of waisting their time.

Hey Keith, I'll be able to head over to your place after I get back into town later tomorrow morning. I'll call you in the morning.

thanks again!

Is this where we start the bidding war???

Sorry, still in shock from the auction I went to this morning. 6K dollar cherokee's with 140K miles on them, 5K dollar beater cavaliers with 120K on them.....

People are so foolish with their money right now. You'd think the last 4 years didn't happen.

Sorry you got hosed, way too many people out there definitely suck. I always try to look at it that it is for the best - every time buying or selling something fell through it ended up working out much better for me in the end. Don't force it, just keep looking for something better and be glad your money didn't go to an a**hole.

Wait, 6k for 140kmiles? That means my 190kmile xj is worth like nine thousand dollars, right?

I had the same thing happen to me over a Willy's 3B. The owner and I made a deal and I agreed to their full asking price without haggling because I thought it was an honest price.

The owner deleted the add and we made the final arrangements over e-mail. About five hours later hour later I received an e-mail saying they just accepted $300.00 more than they were asking.

I was pissed, some people have no integrity. The bitch of the thing is that I would have gladly paid the extra $300.00 if it had been advertised in the first place.

exactly! Its the simple fact that they didnt bother to even give you a chance. Just sold it right behind your back without a word....

On the other hand, I did go over to Keiths house and check out the Runner. It looks like a great start, and he was kind enough to offer it to me! Thanks again Keith, cant wait to start working on this beauty!

The Cruiser and his little (but older) brother.
