I have always had a attention to detail when repairing things. I have considered replacing my fenders but now wonder with a sand blaster seeing how bad it is corroded wonder if it would make more sence making small sheet metal parts and patch welding them in. It would certainly keep me busy and would not necessitate my vehicle be totally unusable.

Last winter my vehicle has been experiencing a buildup of moisture on the front windshield and would like to consider doing the repairs now. A cut off wheel and mig welder is probebly what i need right now. Sand blasting for hard to reach areas with the cut off wheel used as a sander. Any opinions on this?

I would do these repairs in my carport.

my thoughts are if you think you can fix it, then do it. the patches will run you less in the long run, BUT require more work then replacing the panel in whole. I did recently see a special epoxy glue that can be used to work on body panels (non structural i would guess), but I would think that a small mig or stick welder would do a good job for you. if you have never welded before, take time and practice on some scrap first. I'm sure several ppl here who are experts will agree with that.

sandblasting is great for rigs taken completely apart, or say when a fender can be removed and taken out back. but when used for spot areas that are deep and complicated with wires, u joints etc. and when done inside a carport...sometimes the sand gets into places you wouldn't expect. in these cases sometimes its best to use other methods to control rust

I've patched a few in the past, not worth it to make it look good. I just replace these days.

quarters

I have left and right quarter panels from ccot that I am not gonna use, can save you some coin
and 8 weeks lead time if you are interested. They are correct year for a '76. Decided I didn't want to cut them up for axel relocation so i fabbed up some 3/4 quarter panels out of 18g with a HF combo brake, roller, and shear.
