The passenger side fog light on my 2004 is in need of replacement. Fogging lead to water intrusion and by the time I could get to it, it was toast. Does anyone have a replacement sitting around that they would sell to me or do you know where I can get one for a reasonable price. I haven't approached the dealer yet as I figured the price would be ridiculous. Secondly, how do you get the whole unit out? I tried before but didn't spend a whole lot of time after I disconnected the wiring harness in the back behind the bumper and didn't want to do any damage beyond what happened.
Thanks for your help!

I'm in the same situation as the OP.

Thanks for the Ebay link, do you have any experience using these?

In terms of yours being "toast" is it completely dead? Or does it look like mine where the housing looked like s*** but the light still worked - albeit somewhat dimmer and yellower! There are a few options you can choose.

I had to do this repair a few years ago as my passenger side had rust in it; I replaced both because the driver's side did not look that much better! Luckily, the light itself still worked so I only had to order the housings.

If memory serves me correctly, there's a bolt or screw that holds one side of the housing on and a tab that slides into the side of the bumper housing. This is for my 98 at least, I don't know if they changed the design with the 2003 facelift (theoretically they shouldn't have if the part numbers are the same from year to year).

Just unscrew it, unplug the bulb from the housing, and pull the the entire thing out from the front. This picture shows the tab, but the screw/bolt is on the opposite side.

I noticed the replacements that I got from Toyota had redesigned light bulb sockets to help with water intrusion. Three years later and they still look brand new.

I checked with a Toyota parts site that I frequent for pretty much everything. Replacements from www.midatlantictoyotaparts.com were $136.99 for either side housing (the list price is around $182.00). This price is for the housing ONLY which was all that I needed when I swapped the housings out.

Part numbers for the housings: $136.99 per side ($182.65 list price)
  • FRONT LEFT: 81221-60042 (Replaces part #: 81221-60040 and 81221-60041)
  • FRONT RIGHT: 81221-60122 (Replaces part #: 81221-60120 and 81221-60121)

The ENTIRE foglight includes the housing, the bulb socket, and the bulb.

Part numbers for the entire foglight: $175.93 per side ($234.57 list price)
  • FRONT LEFT: 81220-60042 (Replaces part #: 81220-60040 and 81220-60041)
  • FRONT RIGHT: 81210-60122 (Replaces part #: 81210-60120 and 81210-60121)

The part numbers for the housings are all the same for the 100 series model years according to their site. For the 2005-2007, they do not have any entire foglights listed.

I'd be wary of the ebay lights only because of poor quality on some units and after reading up on horror stories of people who bought headlight/taillight housings and having them crack/leak/fog/fail within a year.

Hope this helps,

Rich
