I’m in New Zealand and heading back to Colorado soon. I’m going to pick up some parts for my 1990 HZJ75 Troopy while here before I leave and wanted to verify I’ve got the correct part numbers for my truck if anyone could help please. I replaced the radiator and water pump last summer but didn’t have a timing belt when the work was done so I want to do that now. Right before I left for NZ my truck decided not to start so I’m going to get a starter motor and solenoid as I’m pretty sure both are original and a few other random bits. Please advise if you think I’m missing anything else in relation to the starter or timing belt.

Starter 28100-17091
Starter Solenoid 28300-17030
Timing belt 13568-19195
Timing Belt Idler Assembly 13505-17011
Timing Belt Tensioner Spring 90507-27003
Rear Door Hinge Cover 68851-90K00
Hood Support Rod Clip 53455-14020

Thank you!

Skip the starter solenoid. It will basically never go bad. The starter is readily available in the US from any Toyota dealer in your hood.

As is the hood rod clip, pulley, spring.

Pretty much all 1HZ parts are available in a couple of days from your local Toyota parts department.

Okay, thanks for the reply. Can you verify that I have the correct parts numbers for when I do order them?
Thanks

How recently have you bought a 28100-17091? I bought several last year but just had an order get bounced back today as “non-import”. Could status have changed in the last few days/weeks?

I haven’t ordered one recently.

I can check with Plano tomorrow.

**a lot** of parts in the process of significant internal reorganization in the US market.

Things are going to change radically with Toyota service parts supply in the near future.

I think this is like the 4th or 5th time I’ve ran into this in the last few months.
Annoying. But not the end of the end of the world. Just a few more dollars for my customer which if they have a 1HZ/HD/HDFT-anything at my shop they are usually spending $$$ regardless.

Thank you!

The NipponDenso starters are very easily rebuildable. Most likely, if you just get a click of the starter relay, then you have a worn solenoid plunger and contacts. I would not waste money buyig a whole new starter, but just repair what you have. The plunger and terminal kits are pretty cheap.

What you are calling a starter solenoid is the starter relay (which includes a solenoid). I've seen them short out but I think it's pretty unlikely to be the cause of your fault.
