Does anybody have a complete concise lits of EVERYTHING needed to do a v8 conversion. I will be using a 305 sbc and a sm420 tranny.

Thank you

YOWSA....long list....the shortlist goes something like this:

motor mounts, either custom or AA
t-case mount, either custom or AA
t-case adapter, recommend SpaceGhost plate
d-shaft length changes most likely required

Check the AA site for their information on a Cruiser conversion...their motor info is pretty complete, and it's good regardless of what t-case you drop in.

Also, there are 4-5 tech articles on tranny swaps and motor swaps...perusing those will help.

custom exhaust
sending unit adaptors
ignition and charge circuit wiring changes
transmission hump mod
. . .

It might be a good idea to get a t-case saver.

slave cylinder bracket to attach to chevy bellhousing

change tranny from column shift to floor shift if needed, Possible modification of cooling system, depending on where you are and how hot it gets. relocate battery, complete different clutch setup, possible weight problems with drum brakes, may need to swap to discs.

Good stuff except the weight issue. If he uses a small block Chev he loses a couple of hundred pounds and stock brakes should be fine.

Lots O patience....but well worth it IMNSHO..
