Preface: Acknowledged newbie but willing to learn as much as I can about my rig.

I've searched the forum but have not come across anything even close to answers for two questions:

1.) When searching for parts there is usually a numerical sequence associate with the part.

Ex from SOR: Fuel Pump -- 1/79-8/87

How do I read this?

2.) Is there a directory that lists Toyota part numbers? I don't see anything in my service manual.

I found the Toyota part number for hood bumpers on here, when I called a local dealership (not Gene Reed Toyota, the other one in town) the parts department told me it wasn't a Toyota part number. After quizzing me on where I got the number, the parts guy skeptically keyed in the number. His response: "Oh"

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

That number sequence is actually a time range. The fuel pump you are referring to is for engines produced from 1/79, or January 1979, through 8/87, or August 1987.

The part number is something different.

Hope that helps!

SOR is a great resource and stocks lots of OEM parts, but SOR's part numbers are not Toyota part numbers. Give Cruiser Dan (see vendor forum for contact and info) a call and tell him what you are trying to accomplish. He will fix you up with whatever OEM parts you need.

The P/Ns of SOR are only their own P/N.
If you want Toyota P/N for your truck, explain about parts then I can inform you Toyota P/N.

Oh, Min Seok
