Parking Brake Shoe Replacement- Special Tools!?

Anyone have luck replacing their parking brake shoes without the special Toyota return spring and driver tools? Any tips/tricks?

The only versions of the tools I can find in the US are super expensive and seemingly backordered forever.

Definitely need to buy one of those spring hooks! It was an absolute struggle using combination of different needle nose pliers trying to get that spring into it's place.

Mine's a motorcycle tool. I used it to remove the springs connecting exhaust sections on dirt bikes.
