I'm going to paragon adventure park (www.paragonap.com) in NE PA for the first time this saturday. I've never been there before, or even been wheeling. I just got my new Bridgestone M/T's mounted and I'm eager to try themout. Any words of wisdom?

Words of wisdom: Have a great time, don't go alone and know your limits... Nothing worse than a newbe's first time out and pushing it too far. Last run i was on some guy rolled not once but twice on two seperate times, had to let his son drive the heep out, I don't think he wheels anymore...

I'm going with my buddy and his friends from a ford explorer forum....I just hope I have enough rope to get them all out.

JoeMerc,

PAP (Paragon Adventure Park) is an awesome place and I'm sure you'll have a blast there. I'm about 1-1/2 hr away and we go there a bunch every year. We're likely heading back up there in the next few weeks again (several 80's) if you're interested.

Thoughts?
Avoid VooDoo unless you have swampers :D
If you're going up with some Exploader friends, you'll likely be on green trails. If so, check out there new trail (think it's #25). I took some stockers out there this year and it was a great trail for them to get their feet wet with. Nice and long and crosses by several hard core (including the Neuroc course) so you can see some other trucks mashing around.

Management of the park is awesome. Both Kyles and both Stephanies are super folks. Make sure you get a trail map and remember to be safe and have fun. There are a ton of great trails up there and if you have fun the first time (which I'm sure you will), then you'll likely go back many more times.

If you're near NY,NJ, PA, CT etc, consider joining www.gclcny.com or atleast the email list for the club. That way you'll know when we are going back out there.

Have fun and post some pics afterwards.

JoeMerc,

Since those little amusement parks are all you East coast guys have to play in then my words of wisdom are:

1. Arrive early to avoid the long lines.
2. Take your own refreshments as they charge a fortune inside the gates.
3. Arrange a meeting place in case you get separated.
4. Buy the Express Pass. They're expensive but well worth not having to wait in lines.

That about covers it. :D

1-Avoid the mud
2-Take a good tow strap and some "D" shackles
3-Air down a lot-15-18psi
4-Do not use the front locker until you know when you need it
5-Do not tow anyone while in reverse
6-Make sure you have a good recovery point in the rear(often missing)
7-Enjoy, but remember you will spend thousands of extra dollars on your truck at Slee Offroad in the next year.

Beowulf-very clever. I once was razzing Junk and called Paragon a 4WD theme park but I regretted it for sounding too harsh. Those poor Easties have no choice, but I'm glad others think along the same lines.

Cruiserdrew,

We have learned not to expect much out of B.

Per B's super tips. :flipoff2:
1. No long lines. Just check in and the rest depends if you're going on an organized ride from your friends club or it's an open weekend.
2. Of course take own refreshments unless you want to eat berries and drink from the spring.
3. Should not get seperated, should always be able to see the truck behind you in the rearview mirror or else stop.
4. Express pass? Forgive B, his best friend is Tattoo as he lives on Fantasy Island.

Unless you are in the valley, ie. sleepy hollow, headless horseman, spring trail, etc, there is not much mud, mostly rocks. Judging by the company you're going with though, you'll likely be on trails like; Trail 25, Turtle, Doe Run and Pipeline. If you pass trails like Pebbles, VooDoo, Undertaker, Death Valley or Bam Bam (or even any Black 3 etc), then you may want to watch the hardcore guys snappin stuff.

Andrew,
I agree that we have to very careful with Junk's emotions and saying harsh words that may offend him is over the top.

Everyone.... Please, please, please forgive me for anything that I may have said or done to offend Junk.

Regarding East Coast theme parks vs. wheelin' in the West. The first picture is a typical trail in our theme parks (aka the Rocky Mountains) and the second picture is an example of what can happen if you have a mechanical problem, get unlucky with the weather or a bad spot in the trail, or make a driving mistake.

I've heard, but haven't verified, that a mistake at PAP could mean you spend two or three hours cleaning off some tree sap or some other "tragedy."

:D :D :D :flipoff2:

Junk where are you from? I have been wheelin at Rausch and PAP, Shamokin, and Blossburg since about 2000.

Going to PAP:

Sliderz (never mind you are going with Explorers)

Avoid the water....it gets deeper than you think.

Avoid the mud. Trucks don't really like it.

Slower is better.

Learn to use your hand brake.

Sliderz (oh wait....you are going with Explorers)

Have FUN!!

Just remember. Your stock rig can do anything a modified late model Explorer can do...BACKWARDS.

Don't show off. But push YOUR "seat-suckin' pucker factor."

Don't be afraid to try everything that they do.

Trust ONE SPOTTER....Pick that one and focus on only that ONE.

B, please take it easy on me, you know I can't handle harsh words. :flipoff2: :princess:

Uh, pretty dirt road you're on there. :flipoff2:

At PAP, we tend to prefer some trails that may not necessarily fall under the access road category. :flipoff2:

Mudshack - I'm in buggerville. Some may call it north central NJ. Our club, www.gclcny.com , goes to Paragon frequently. In July we had about 80 trucks there for the Coal Mine Cruiser Classic. We're heading back up there in 2 weeks if you're interested (Oct 2).

Junk-no offence but your trail biatch is one ugly mofo!

Move to Houston, TX back in March.

Lived all my life in Northern PA. Will be back for a few weeks around Buck Season (Thanksgiving for the rest of you). But the LX450 won't be with me.

Mudshack,
Any time you come up this way, shoot us a holler. Always room for shotgun if we're out.

Cruiserdrew, you may be right, but the TB was a cheap date. :flipoff2:

I didn't know hippies enjoyed wheeling.

Junk,
You got it bud. I would love to see some built 80's anyhow. I think that while I am up there. The Keystone Krawlers will be having a get together at my cabin. Might even wheel in Blossburg. Interested?

Nuttin wrong with hippies! n LOL
