Like a lot of you, my Cruiser is suffering from severe paint fading on the roof and hood. The rest of the paint is mostly okay, but does have quite a few scratches, etc.

A respray of the truck is out of the question, but I've considered a quick respray of the hood. If I go back to stock, it won't match and I'll still need to get the roof done. I'm not usually a fan of matte black hoods, but do consider this an option at this point.

Since there's no thread that I could find that specifically addresses this issue, if anyone wants to post some pictures in this "Hey, I resprayed my hood thread but not the rest of my truck" that'd be great. Just trying to get sone ideas.

Thanks.

I had the same issue and used plastic dip spray a few years ago after watching a few youtube vids on it. Yea , that was not a good idea. First off , I should not have been spraying while sipping on a few beers. :grinpimp: Only good thing is , it looks better then it did but not by much. I have to touch it up every year or so. I will go the monster liner next time.

My hood paint is only fading basically in the area that the blackout panel would cover. But I'm never going to take that thing off, so I think a spring project for me is going to be masking the area, sanding, priming, and painting with a low gloss black to get the same effect. Other than paint that I need for other projects, should be nearly free.

i think I'd wrap it before I'd paint it... I have a sign plotter/cutter so I cut sign material regularly but I can only cut 31" most material I get is off cut ie not standard 11" 21" ect... because it like me is CHEAP but it's high quality 3m 10yr product... some places stock up to 6ft wide you might be able to buy a 6x6 ft cut off of a color of your choice for less than $30 put it on wet and squeegee and you are done... not bragging well yes I am I did the first wraps in nascar back when the cars were painted

I probably should have mentioned this while chiming in... I have a huge dent by the driver side headlight. If I actually cared about my hood I'd just buy and get a new one properly painted. I like the scar, I made it myself.
