I've got a 1980 model BJ-42 and I'd like to buy some of that color paint.
I have searched this and other forums and checked every imaginable resource, but I'm getting conflicting opinions on Beige 464 vs. Dune Beige 416.

There are two distinct colors involved, but what's dune beige in one place is called beige in another. I think it must be Dune Beige 416 but toyotareference.com seems to think that they stopped using that color in 75.

So, what do you think?

Thanks!

And by the way, does anyone know where I could find a replacement antenna that looks like this?

Dune Beige 416 ran from '75 to '79, IIRC. I have a '76 now that is this color. I did have a 1980 that was also Beige, but was the 464. 464 ran from '80-'83, I think. Tough to tell a difference unless they're next to each other. The 416 is slightly darker and has more gray. Did you check for the placard on your rig....should have paint codes listed on it (unless it was a re-paint - then it could be either).

My 1978 HJ45 is Dune Beige. Its been a while but if I remember correctly my paint was a Dupont product (#34882) that appears somewhat grey while in the can. Hope that helps.......1978HJ45

Just unscrew your fuel door and take it in to your paint shop.

If they're any good, they'll then be able to mix the paint so that its "dried colour" is a perfect match to the inside of your fuel door.

(The inside is best because it has had very little sun exposure.)

End of story ....

Forget about paint codes because they don't ensure you get any better colour match.

Giving the paint supplier the paint code deosn't really help anyone because the way they mix "to that code" varies depending on changes in the make-up "base paints".

BTW. Lovely cruiser. That must be one of the very first of the BJ42 model.
