I have a '99 LC that I bought for $200. A friend got mad at a dealer and had it towed home where it sat for about two years. He asked me if I wanted it and I thought it would be great to get it running again. So I took the Cruiser home with a box full of engine parts. It is now running again and is in pretty good shape overall. It has 272k miles. The Cruiser will go down the roadjust fine then all of a sudden it will loose throttle control and I have to floor it to keep it moving. I have not been stranded yet. The code is for the accelerator pedal position sensor. I have the service manual with instructions on taking an ohm reading across the terminals and I will do that but it could also be the ECU. I have thought about replacing the entire throttle body because of the mileage but it is expensive. My question is if anyone has had this happen to them and what was the outcome.

Search for TPS and APPS, both have several threads on issues and replacements. Very doubtful it's the ECU.
TM, thanks for the help. I searched APPS and got allot of good information. My thought right now is just to replace the entire throttle body because I have a low mileage engine I am going to swap in when the current one gives me trouble and the new TB will just add to its reliability.

Save your money. Just replace the APPS. It's $250 and the throttle body is $1050. At 272K, your $800 would be better spent on other preventative maintenance that will go further to increase your reliability than the throttle body. When was the timing belt/water pump done last?

BTW: $200? Really? That's insane. Post some pics. Let's see what a $200 cruiser looks like. Congrats and welcome!
