i trade some work for this tent and i cant tell you enough how happy i an with it.
this is pretty much a self contained tent, no poles to assemble, just stake it in the ground basicly.

the ground tarp that came with it is the same shape as the tent.
the rain fly snaps to the tent itself with plastic buckles that can be snugged tight.

we had a bit of rain while camping this weekend and some water got between the tent and the ground tarp, but everything was still dry, even the tent floor.

three people with two dogs (boxers) fit and slept real well.

if anyone is interested in this type of tent get ahold of ALF here on mud

you can also look here: http://www.oztent.com/

mine is the MI-8

You are correct. OZ TENTS are the best!

Wife & I use our RV4 for all our (wheeling) camping & purchased the extra front enclosures.....WOW. Its really nice having room to move around & having a place to cook while in a down pour is great.

I would not hesitate to tell someone to get a OZTENT....I have not been let down a bit.

Is ALF local? I am also in CO, and this might be a nice tent to have for my wife and I along with our two labs.

ATLANTA GA.

I was checking into these, but couldn't get a response from the seller.

1. Does it have more venting than the front door?
2. Does the vestibule have a full rain fly conver.
3. What would be the packed dimensionis of the tent (ball park) for MI 8?

1)it has mess on the roof of the tent itself, you can take the rain fly off and look at the stars.

2) the fly totally closes up, the first pic is the other side of the pic that open.
you can zipper it closed or it has velcro to hold it closed.
the fly also has tether rope to pull it away from the tent a bit more, and the tether rope has thier oun pouches built into the fly to store themselves in.

3) the tent packs into a case thats about 3 foot round by no more than 3-4 inches thick. it also has a carring/shoulder strap.

i'll take a pic tonight of it packed up.

I still have good stock on the Mi series tents but am currently out of the RV series.

The Mi as 2bad stated is a self contained tent in that the poles stay attached to the tent. It sets up in minutes and puts away in a similar amount of time with practice.

All the Mi's come with a rainfly but the ground saver is optional. The rainfly covers the entire tent and also makes a front and rear vestibule. All the Mi's also have front and rear doors. When the rainfly is not attached you stair at the stars as the entire roof of the tent is mesh. With the rainfly attached and appropriately staked you will stay very dry. These tents will not blow over either as I have had one in 20-30 mph wind gusts and it just leans with the wind.

I have Mi's in sizes from a 1 man all the way to a behemouth 12 man that is more than 6' tall in the middle.

Hit me direct and I will give you more info.

How about this: 20% off till the end of August

PM's and emails sent.

Spread the word. Daughter needs new shoes for school.

Hey guys keep in mind these tents come in all sizes. 1 man up to 12 man.

I can get you into a mi-3 that is a two man and perfect for the solo camper who needs room for gear or a dog. Including the discount this tent will go for $120.00 which includes the ground cloth. Same tent as the mi-8 just smaller.

If you need room for two adults and your gear dog etc. the perfect size is the Mi-6 which will go for 215.00 including ground cloth. It also works good for 1 adult and 3 small kids.

Let me know. The discount is moving these out real fast.

Mi-8 are already gone.

Ok, I ordered one of the MI-8 from alf. However it wasn't going to be to me in time to use it last weekend. So Jim (2badfj's) was nice enough to let me borrow his. We took it to the mtns of NE Utah. Camped two nights in the Uinta's and one night up Big Cottonwood Canyon just outside of Salt Lake.

This is by far the best tent I have ever used. Super easy to setup and get going.

Now for the best part. The first two days it rained a ton. Second day we had marble sized hail (the kind that hurt when it hits your shoulder). The group I was with we had a pop up and two full size camp trailers. The pop up was leaking inside and the biggest camp trailers water heater would not stay lit because of the rain.

Well the oz tent I had was bone dry inside. The rainfly was soaked but not a drop on the walls inside or anything. As for the floor on half of the tent there was about an inch of water between the tent floor and the ground tarp. Felt like walking on a waterbed, still the floor was completely dry.

I would not hesitate to recommend anyone of these tents to anyone.

I can't wait to take mine to Ouray at the end of the month for 5 days/nights.

I ordered an MI-10 from Alf late last week and it arrived yesterday. Can't comment on the tent itself until I use it (it'll be awhile), but up-front service was sure good.
