Ok, I ordered one of the MI-8 from alf. However it wasn't going to be to me in time to use it last weekend. So Jim (2badfj's) was nice enough to let me borrow his. We took it to the mtns of NE Utah. Camped two nights in the Uinta's and one night up Big Cottonwood Canyon just outside of Salt Lake.

This is by far the best tent I have ever used. Super easy to setup and get going.

Now for the best part. The first two days it rained a ton. Second day we had marble sized hail (the kind that hurt when it hits your shoulder). The group I was with we had a pop up and two full size camp trailers. The pop up was leaking inside and the biggest camp trailers water heater would not stay lit because of the rain.

Well the oz tent I had was bone dry inside. The rainfly was soaked but not a drop on the walls inside or anything. As for the floor on half of the tent there was about an inch of water between the tent floor and the ground tarp. Felt like walking on a waterbed, still the floor was completely dry.

I would not hesitate to recommend anyone of these tents to anyone.

I can't wait to take mine to Ouray at the end of the month for 5 days/nights.

Ben, this wasn't your ghost town run tent was it?

No, that was my old rei tent. You'll see this one in ouray or triple bypass if you go.

bring mine to the ralley! :D

No Triple Bypass for me, I would love to but schedule with school starting makes this one a no go.

Bummer, the passes are some of my favorite wheeling.

Discount still running

Sales have been strong so discount continues.

Don't overlook the smaller sizes for your solo efforts.

When the Mi-8's ran out I put together a two tent purchase that is only a few $$ more. You get an Mi-5 and an Mi-3. Take the Mi-3 when its just you and you will have plenty of room. If you go with two or kids/dogs take the 5. If you go with the entire family plus your girlfriend take both. The wife won't mind as much if the GF is in the Mi-3 vs all of you being in one tent :D

PM me a price for the Mi 9 & 10 to 92544, & explain why the smaller 10 is more expensive than the 9 please... I wish there was a model that would hook to the back of the 62 for vehicle access without going outside!

ALF
Lets have cat for dinner!

ALF: Oh, by the way, don't bother looking for your laxative on a rope.
Willie: Oh, you mean my soap on a rope?
ALF: Trust me on this one...

+++

Willie: Go, go back to the tent!
ALF: It's to dangerous out there, I had to kill a fifty foot snake with my pocket knife!
Willie: There are no fifty foot water snakes in the backyard.
ALF: I'm telling ya, it was bright green and it spit water. Ths Ths (spiting water sound).
Willie: That was my new garden hose.
Alf: Oh, no wonder it was sucking on the spiket!

dogboy,
did you get my pm back to you?

Jim,

I did get it and many thanks for the good input. It definitely helped us land on the Mi-8 vs. the Mi-6. Can't wait to receive it and give it a good outing or two. Should be plenty big enough to accomodate my little ones (plus a few of their friends) over time as they grow.

Thanks again,
