We own 3 LCs right now and egerly looking for a 4th too. I have run many other 4WD drive trucks but always go back to LC's.
Here is why multiple LCs in our lifes:
'99 UZJ100: for US grocery getting and glamping. Its lifted and lightly armored but not a "wheeler" It handles beutiffy at 85MPH and gets 15MPG at 70MPH. With V8 it tows 6K# with ease. And It comforatbaly seats 4 with weekend luggage. Why me worry.
'96 FZJ80: for US wheeling. 80% of its usage is offroad. Noisy 36" TSLs, 6" lift, fully armored, every body panell dented, flares torn off, smells of mud and gets 10MPG down hill. The neighbors (over 18 years old) look at it with contempt, like its precence is lower resale value of their homes. (which it probabaliy is...)
'94 FZJ80 For Central American exploration, overlanding, and 4 wheeling. 4" lift, armored, safe boxes, lots of spares, regeared for mountains, wicked dark tint. Easy to get parts and service for all over central america. Its the truck all the US expat who own Defenders wish thy had bought.
In search of BJ45 for a beach/surf truck in Costa Rica. Wife RELLY wants soft top too. Add awning, gas grill, and big water tank for some beach side luxury. Will be nice to keep surf boards & kayaks load on all the time too, less loading and unload
As you can see all vehicles have different uses, and for different geography. I am one of those types that owns multiple bicyles too, each for different ride conditions. Most compelling answer to "why Land Cruiser?" Its been answered here many times, but will once again: Reliability. Second to that is the community, the Land Cruiser marquee a fantastic ownership group.
