Just remember the fire tablet doesn't have built in gps.

Good catch. I remember when I was searching tablets I was amazed at how many don't include built in GPS, including some of the apples.
Definitely need gps and Bluetooth to really take advantage of the tablet.
Has anyone managed to install theirs yet? Would love to see some photos!

I still love the tab I'm using. Had worked flawlessly for every trip.
Using Gaia GPS is so awesome too. I record every off-road excursion and then I have all the stats and directions so in the future I can easily make it back and know exactly how long it's going to take. Really feels futuristic haha

Looks awesome! Sounds like the Toyota install is a little different than the lx. I'll need to find a local Toyota customer to get install photos.

I've been waiting to do my install because I think I'll be adding a new radio to the rig soon. If I run a wire from the glove box through the radio and out to the mount can I use that to pull a new wire through or do I need to take everything apart again? Just curious.

A few days later I got the remaining 3 parts that were delayed from Amazon, and completed the super difficult part of putting the ram stuff together.
I looked at the tablet options and, after a false start with the fire hd8, wound up with a Lenovo tab 4 8. Decent specs, gps, newer device to the market, cheaper. ..
I can't recommend this more, the mount is so amazingly solid... I'd say you could use it for a laptop, or multiple devices.

Did my 06 today. All in all not bad, minus a few head scratchers getting the deck out. Probably took 1.5 hours but nothing horrible.
The quality is tits. Really solid and I'm happy I decided to do it.

Had 2 orders this morning. That leaves one mount left.
I'm not opposed to doing another run, but I'd just need to make sure the interest is still there.

Was the 2002 identical to the 2003+ or have you not been able to verify?

Unfortunately I haven't been able to verify. I plan to figure that out this week then if it's the same, I can do another run if the interest is there. If it's different, I can design and do a run on 1998-2002, but again, only if I see interest.
Cool. Chalk me down as interested if you do a run compatible with 2002 LX’s.
