I have an '88 FJ 62. 275,000 KM....I guess that is about 170,000 miles....I have a constant overheating problem. I come close to the red line after about an hour of driving. Did an acid flush, new water pump and replaced cats. I did the acid flush in the winter because I had no heat. After the flush I got some heat...not much though....Any suggestions? :frown:

thermostat
and welcome to the boards

both upper and lower radiator hoses most have more or less same temp. at operating temp. touch them and see if there is a difference in heat, if there is then you have a thermostat stuck closed.

Lower hose collapsing at higher speeds? Try replacing the hose - its easy. You might also try having the rad flow tested by a rad shop. If its restricted, that could be the problem. Or there's always the fan clutch. That tends to be more of a low speed thing since high speed force air over the rad regardless of the fan.
