You really need an EGT gauge, so you know exactly what your temps are.

The idea is to set your fuel so that you don't go over maximum EGT at full load.

An aftermarket engine temperature gauge would be useful as well, to know whether you really have an engine overheating problem or not, as the factory gauge is not very acurate.
