Maybe a not so bright question, but here goes.
I am/was planning on trying my hand at powder coating small items and found a free oven. Before I was able to use it, Turkey day and Christmas came around and the Misses found it to be a great second oven to keep things warm in when the entire family came to feast. Question is, can it still do both or is it not good to cook and paint in the same place? I wouldn't do it in the main oven due to smelling up the house, this one can roll outside, but don't know if anything is left in the oven to effect food.

I've never powder coated before, but I've read in a couple catalogs that you are not supposed to powder coat in an oven that will be used for food....looks like you need to find another free oven!

The powder is basically a plastic. The oven will acquire an odor to it over time. I doubt that it is anything toxic, but you could end up tasting it in the food.

Gumby brings up a point I had forgotten about - I often bake a piece before coating to drive out oils or solvents. That just adds to the odor.

Thanks for the replies. Sort of what I figured. Just when you get something free to play with, someone else figures out a use for it. Then you find another oven and it's like "WE don't need another oven in the basement"
It's all good, just a little funny at times.
