Anyone have experience with buying an out of state titled trailer? I am looking at one from Minnesota but it's never been titled here.

I believe it is handled just like a auto. Show up at AZ DMV with bill of sale and other relevant docs like existing out of state title and/or reg (some states title trailers, some only register trailers, not sure about MN), fill out a application for AZ new title/transfer, pay the fee and you are good to go.

Bought my M416 off of eBay and picked it up in NM with NM title. Can't remember if the NM said home made but that is how they titled it here. Used the serial # on the data plate as the VIN. If you have a title from the state it's coming from and if everything is done that that state requires you should get a title no problem. Some states back east do not issue titles after a vehicle is so many years old. A signed bill of sale from someone in those states will get you a title here.

I bought my M101A1 from UT. It can with no title and I ended up getting a bonded title. If it would have been a lighter trailer like my M416 a bill of sale would have got me a title. DMV has a book with all the laws of different states. That book is what they use to issue a title. Your following the laws from the other state your fine. Just be you are otherwise you may have to deal with a PO in another state trying to get it titled and registered. On my M101A1 from Utah I had to send a registered letter to the PO requesting he get a title there to transfer. After he didn't respond after a certain I was allowed to get a bonded title. Trailer was so cheap it was worth the risk.

what kind of trailer you looking at if you dont mind me asking?

They have an application for title/registration but no real title, so I am not 100% sure about this. Its a 4x6 cargo trailer.

Go to a 3rd party title place. The extra money is worth the no hassle and time wasting. Easy deal when I bought a trailer with a Kansas title.

Call AZ DMV and see what they say is required from MN to get a Title. If you don't might end up dealing with a getting a bonded title like I did. I dealt with DMV in Winslow which is less hassle then here in the valley. Bottom line DMV knows what is required from each state. I paid less than $200 for my M101A1 and was worth the hassle. 4X6 trailer from MN worth have to pretty special in the first to go get it. If it's here have the currently owner deal with it. Tell him you'll paid for all title and registration fee when buy it. Or go to DMV with them.

Must be one Hell of a good deal to drive that far! Can't you buy one locally for the cost of the trip?
