any members ride on two wheels offroad? i used to as a kid and miss it badly. thinking of picking up a Husqvarna TE510. Dot approved. Basically a pure enduro with some lights and a Dot approved tireset and exhaust.

cruiser content... i will then of course have to figure out the best way to haul it!

yeah that is a sick movie. those bikes are a little too road oriented for me and too $$$$. i am looking for basically a dirt/supermoto bike.

oh yeah, watch dust to glory.

I have a KLR650... great bike, cheap and reliable with a strong community of riders too. I have no experience riding off road and hence I have only taken it off road a couple of times, performed great. It handles surprisingly well on the road too (I love the twisties!). You do need to be tall to ride this bike though.

If I had the cash I would have gotten this...

yeah, i should have been a bit more specific in the title of the post... should have been ENDURO bikes. i want an offroad bike, not a touring bike.

While I'm a big fan of Husqvarna,
they're a bit too much of a high maintainence chick :D

Get a Suzuki DRZ 400 and you'll have reliability and off road excellence.

I always liked 2-stroke Huskies. I had a WXC250, and it was an awesome handling and very powerful bike. But, at the same time, I never had a bike that ran worse for prolonged periods of time...

I had a WR400 and it was fairly reliable
and I beat on it including racing it for one season.

Higher parts cost and less availability though.
Definitely not as reliable as a Japanese 4 Stroke single!!

Armand's in Halifax could order most of the parts for it, but if they couldn't, I called this crusty parts guy at some bike shop in Buffalo, NY.

It was extremely tempermental as far as mixture ratios it would run on. I couldn't bum gas off people I rode with and expect it to run well on their mix. The thing I liked about it was the fact that it was an enduro model, meaning it had awesome gearing for the woods. I put MX style plastics on it, and it had the best of both worlds. I kinda miss it until I think about it stalling on me at low RPM.

i am getting very particular here... i dont want a supermoto bike. i want an enduro bike with blinkers. as far as i can see there are two:
the husky and the KTM. the kawasaki and suz are too street oriented for me.

I know what you're saying, and by all means, go with the Husky or KTM
and you'll be happy as a clam. They are amazing bikes.

I will say that IMHO the DR is VERY dirt oriented (and raced with very few mods)
Although they make a Motard version, the DRZ is an enduro with lights, and not a Supermoto. Husky does the same thing.

For less weight, you can get the dirt only version and make it streetable
with a Baja lighting kit. and it's only $5200 vs $7500 for the Husky.

If I was racing, I'd get the Husky :D
(even though it doesn't come with Ohlins like it used to :frown:)
