Ok, to go way off topic here.

Anyone know of somewhere, preferably in the east valley, that sells apple wood? I have a horizontal smoker, and really like apple wood smoke for a lot of things.

Cabela's should stock it or maybe Bass Pro?.
Otherwise send bigndn (on the main board), a pm, he's a smokin' guru, sure he can set you up with an online source.

If you want to make a day trip, the apple growers north of Willcox sell their trimmings by the cord or pickup load. Bought a pickup load for my smoker 2 winters back for $200 IIRC. Call Apple Annie's and they should be able to direct you to different growers. Ph: 520 384 2084.

I didn't think about Cabelas, I will give them a try.

As for Wilcox, when I lived in Tucson, I would work in Safford every other month or so, and would stop and pick it up on my way home. After moving to Chandler, Wilcox seems like a long ways to go for smoker fuel. :-)

Next job for your 40, Mammoth to Wilcox..;)

And of course a night around a fire in Turkey Creek..

Try Berry Brothers Firewood. They supply most of the firewood used in valley restaurants for cooking/smoking. Ask for Tom, and tell him that Trent sent you.

You've seen the "It's a Dry Heat" T-Shirts. He is the guy who designs/draws them.

Barbeques Galore on Gilbert and Germann sells it by the bag, and as fumann stated Berry Bros. is awesome.
