Hey folks. I rejoined the 100 Series rank after a three year hiatus (got rid of my nice black 2000 when the rear AC lines rusted out) . I picked up a 2000 in gray that spent most of its life in Florida. Had several owners and not much maint history. The guy I bought it from said he did NOT do the timing belt and had put around 30-40K miles on it. So I went ahead and ordered all the parts from CDAN for the 90K service including timing belt, serp belt, all seals, water pump, radiator hoses, etc.. and had my mechanic do all the fluids including the diffs and transfer case. Anyway I remember how solid these things are and its a joy to drive. Its a second family hauler and will likely only be challenged by winter driving (new Blizzaks on it).

I had my mechanic hold onto the old timing belt since I had no idea if it was the original or not (no stickers in engine bay for 90K service). Looks like I had it done JUST in time.

I will post photos of truck and the timing belt once I get to 10 posts. I have some old photos from my last truck that are eating my photo storage.

Good question. It was not missing teeth but was frayed on one area and the top side of the belt (without the teeth) was cracked and glazed. Maybe it would have lasted a bit longer but it didn't look healthy to me. I will post photo(s) soon and you can tell me what you think.

EXACTLY Supra that is what it looks like. I know this thread is useless without photos. Apparently I need to get to 11 posts and I will be able to put some photos in. But that cracked glazed look is what it looks like to me.

So, it looked like this?

That's mine at well over 200K miles. You were wise to change it, but the 'just in time' part might be a stretch.

Again I have NO confirmation this is original but isn't it pretty common to have a sticker somewhere in the engine compartment when the 90K service was done??
