Sitting at home with a fever and brain fog (no idea what I got) but trying to get some things done while I'm home, so excuse my newb question.

Does anyone have a photo of (or can describe) an original left front window lift motor from a early 97 model FZJ80?

Below is a photo of an original early 96 FZJ80 left front window lift motor (long black housing bottom image) compared to an aftermarket motor.

I'm pretty sure that an OEM replacement left front motor now has the shorter housing (similar to the top image), 85720-60011. One earlier part number was 85720-60010, but I don't know what models years used that part. Can't quite make out the last five of the part number on the black motor.

Continued from above: I'm trying to figure out if my left front window lift motor is the original or an OEM replacement by the PO, don't want to toss a good motor, but also don't want to have to dig back into my door again.

Reason I dug into my door:

The left front window regulator is fawked, one arm came off the track and then got bent 90 degrees as the window glass tried to come up.

I have a new OEM regulator but debating on replacing the motor while it's all apart. There had been a sorta grinding noise coming from the door when the window went up for awhile, just hadn't found the time to open up the door, until it broke.

So I'm not sure if that noise was just the arm getting ready to pop out of the track, or if it was from the motor. IME when these motors make noise they're on the way out.

One point in favor of this motor being good; it was strong enough to
bend the upper arm of the regulator 90 degrees (image to follow).

Main purpose of the thread is comparison of motors, original versus OEM replacement (see above, anyone?).

However here's some photos showing why I pulled the regulator out.
(search words: bent regulator arm)

Looking down into the door from the top, glass removed:

For those who haven't pulled a regulator, after disconnecting the
harness connector and the 10mm bolts holding the regulator to the door,
you slide it out the large hole:

Bumping my thread: does anyone have a factory original left front window lift motor or know the part number for that part on an early 97 FZJ80?

Go to Partsouq.com and enter your VIN. You can find every part number for your truck.

Thanks, maybe in my fog I didn't word the question right, I was looking for the original part ie: what part number came installed in an early 97 model from the factory. I believe 85720-60011 is a superceded part number.

Was hoping someone would have an original old left front motor laying around to check or have a photo of one. For example, my early 96 model had a window lift motor that was taller (armature case) than the replacement (see the photo in Post #1 above).

The black motor is an original from a 96 model; notice that the case is longer
than the replacement in the partsouq image above or the aftermarket motor
in the photo.

During this time period, most electronic components were starting the process of design and manufacturing miniaturization-- this extends to other components as well. This was accomplished with both component assemblies as well as with material changes (for example, Toyota first started using composite reinforced polypropylene intake manifolds in certain engine applications during the late 1990's vs. aluminum manifolds). All of these gains were seen as weight reduction which is key from both design and manufacture point of view.

So, a change from -60010 --> -60011 in the window motor does indicate a "major design change". According to Toyota Engineering Standards, (a) "Major design change number is used for distinguishing old and new parts." Now, the "1" at the end of -60011 is the next number (in series) hence its use to differentiate from -60010.

Per Toyota: "A major engineering change number is assigned to a part if that part or concept must be differentiated from the preceding part as a result of a significant change to that prior part." So, the part number movement from -60010 to -60011 indicates we've got some significant enough changes to the previous part (design/engineering-wise) that necessitates a new design number (in this case, "1").

So, the decrease in size of the case assy (and the internals respectively) would necessitate a change in part number. It's the "same" part in that its limited effectivity of use stays the same: -60010/-60011 are still window motors that attached to an FZJ80 Land Cruiser. But it is fundamentally a different enough design/engineering change internally (with regards to materials used, sizing, sourcing, etc.). Still fits the same and operates the same (hence it's "limited effectivity" has not fundamentally changed- the suffix part numbers still have design classes that are the same: -6001x).

Onur: That's perfect, thank you.

And just found a photo of an original (not mine) left front window lift motor: 85720-60010:

For comparison, below is a photo of the left front motor I pulled out
of my 97 model FZJ80 (10/96 production):

It looks like it's been in the door ? many years.

What was confusing to my small (foggy) brain is the door card, vapor barrier, regulator nuts, screws, etc, looked like they had never been messed with before.

So my guess is that the motor I took out, -60011 (above) may be the original. So does that mean there was a running change in part numbers
installed in the factory some time between early 96 models and early 97 models??

Not a big deal I guess, was debating on whether this motor was a more recent replacement (and whether to put it back in) or just replace it while everything is apart. Still foggy brained.

I just did this job replacing both front doors with new oem motors and arms on my 12/96 manufacture.
