All,
I dropped the fuel tank of my '86 BJ70 this afternoon to repair some rust damage to the frame above my right rear spring shackle hanger. To get to the frame, I removed the fuel tank and found a new rust damaged part. The fuel tank skid plate. It was essentially rusted through at each support strap [attached are a couple of shots of the plate]. Luckily, the fuel tank and straps had only light surface rust.
Now to the key reason for the post ...
Are there after market options to the factory skid plate to provide protection for the tank? Or has anyone fabricated a one-off tank protector?
Thanks for the help and ideas.
