Operation: Found an axle! EDIT

Folks I need some help finding a new rear axle for my FJ Cruiser. As you know mine is bent.....:princess:..... I need a new one before I can wheel again. I would like one out of a 6 MT truck for extra parts but will take whatever. Think yall can help me out? I dont know too many places to look. Macon doesnt have alot of places to look. I would like to find one I can drive and get or atleast wouldnt cost me an arm and a leg in shipping. Let me know....thanks!

welcome aboard newbie :eek::eek::eek: Is the :princess: still around?? :censor:

You can have the IFS axle out of my truck, rear wheel steer:flipoff2::flipoff2:

Does my 4runner axle fit (rear) 1997 v6?

No it wont fit...I need a WHOLE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY....my housing is bent. I can get a new one from toyota...but I figured I could find a used complete axle.

still don't want my ifs junk huh.

a used complete FJC rear axle, that's a needle in a hay stack. I think Bailey has it right, carparts.com or might try the blue forum. one other long-shot might be to look on craigshelper.

it's car-part.com and there is only one P in 'operation'

:flipoff2:

an FJC axle will be tough to find, I would post on pirate and some of the west coast boards too. A buddy of mine has an 80 series axle for sale if you want to make that work...:D

Are they the same as 4Runner housings? May be easier to locate one of them - as they made like, a bazillion of 'em...

I paid $450 +200 to ship for mine (with elocker) using car-part.com website. I put all the quotes in a spreadsheet and sorted them and then quoted the best deal.
if you need a shipper, let me know as they were cheap compared to others.
Housing from Toyota $730....might have to go that route.

I'd do some fab work to put something else in there way before I'd pay $750 from Toyota.... Not to mention you already bent one...

You can get a 14 bolt all day for less than $100. :D

Found me an axle in Wyoming of all places. $1200 shipped but now I have some spare parts including e locker motor and spare e locker third.

Considering just the third member runs about $900 from TMC, that's not too bad. The 14-bolt, 80 or 4R options sound good except that you have to rework all the suspension and linkages and likely a new driveshaft. I've never seen a bent axle housing on an FJC before, must have done something REALLY fun to do that. :D

Thats the thing it wasnt fun. My wife caught a pole just right on River Street..I was drinking while we were haning out with some other guys for some photos so she was driving. The axle was $888 plus shipping. I figured the third more than makes up for the price as well as the brake parts I needed as well. Plus I was findind them for $2k+ in some places. I jumped at it and honestly think it was a deal for the amount of parts I needed..
Brake caliper
rotor
bearings
axle shaft bent?
housing
etc.
Now I got a third so I dont got to worry bout breaking on a long trip.

Buy her:princess:one of these4!!!
Z Tank!.webp
