My mother had one - 2003 TDI Jetta - and routinely got about 50 mpg. Looking at the sticker and seeing that the engine is only about 85hp is deceiving, it got out and moved! Dad sold it because he got tired of the truckers being pricks at the truck stops. Guess they don't like 'little cars' filling up in 'their' territory. Mom would still like to kill him for getting rid of it. It was an awesome car, just could have used a little more room on the inside.

must be different where you live...

Here when my wife fills up, the truckers try hitting on her.... They see her pull up and start to get ready to pump, and they all come running over "oh, wait sweetheart, you don't want to fill it with this....."

She then has to say "why not, it's diesel..." When they're surprised at that she has to tell them "It's a 1.9 Liter direct injected diesel with internally wastegated Garrett turbocharger and intercooler..."

She then has to tell about 10 guys that she's flattered, but married, and no, she won't go to the truck stop private shower with them.

madbaggins: "It was raining after we drove home and I was flying around the roads, get this.. When you stop the car with the wipers going on full, the wipers automatically slow down while stopped and speed up again when the car starts moving...wow!"

Hmmm, sounds like a charging system problem.

My old 1961 VW camper did the same thing unti I converted it to a 12 volt system.
