Holy s***, $15k for a rusty GX? How many miles were on it?If I had the garage space and it wasn’t my DD, I would have kept it and slowly fixed it myself. They gave me almost 15 on the trade.
Yes, that is a bonkers trade number! Also shows that there is no way there was actually $10K in stuff wrong with it, cuz they'd have to sell it for something like $28K to actually make any money off of it (despite the car market being crazy I don't see anything other than a creampuff GX bringing that kind of money). Either way, sounds like you came out just fine with getting that much as a trade, and got a new GX out of it.
There have been 3 for sale on my local CL recently, ranging from all the way down to $4500 (pretty rough with some CEL's, but tempting as a real trail rig) to $13K (decent but not as nice as mine is). They probably have a bit of rust on them being from this area. You must not be seeing some of the stuff being listed in other GX circles. People huffing paint or something, buyer and seller alike.

That being said I don't doubt folks are trying to sell $12K GX's for $20K plus and folks are willing to buy them in this market. Let me know where these over-priced ones are selling and I'll clean out my local CL of GX's and make a nice profit.
To the OP, it will be interesting to see if this GX ends on the same dealer's lot, and, if so, how quickly and for what price. My BIL had that happen with a Chrysler product - traded it due to engine problems the dealer said would take $3-4K to fix, and it was for sale on the same lot the next day. Another reason I hate doing business with dealers, they have a double-incentive to over-inflate repair costs to put customers in a new vehicle AND make even more money by flipping a trade that has very little actually wrong with it.
For sure. It’ll be interesting to see what they do. I figured it was worth $8k-ish prior to this wild market. I estimate I paid about about $8k more for the 460 than I would have too, so probably a wash.To the OP, it will be interesting to see if this GX ends on the same dealer's lot, and, if so, how quickly and for what price. That one always baffles me because the only thing that can really kill a 120/150 is rust, not milesRust sucks, but low miles are in high demand.
I'm not surprised. Someone reached out to me through PM to ask about it. He found the VIN on my original purchase post from back in 2017. Looks like someone added an undercoat to cover up the rust. I wouldn't have been able to sleep at night if I'd done that and sold it private party.Wow! You left money on the table!
Most of the vehicles I've sold have been in better condition when I sold them then when I bought them.I wouldn't have been able to sleep at night if I'd done that and sold it private party.
