8/16 update below

Welp, sold my Challenter SRT and picked up a 1998 LC100 from Japan. Body is straight but needs paint. AHC is shot and I'd rather just replace it and not deal with AHC headaches (yes, I've read the FAQ). I want this to be a fun daily with the ability to evacuate due to hurricanes (and maybe some off road fun). I plan on keeping the JDM aero kit, keeping it black and then putting on some nice wheels and fixing the suspension, so that's what I'm doing. I'm just kind of keepint this thread more for me and seeing all the stuff I'm having to update/replace. A HUGE positive is that it freaking runs like a champ. It has only surface rust, 98k miles and timing belt was done last year.

Some interesting things I'm learning. The JDM LC100s in 98 did not have any kind of OBD port and use just the Toyota data port. One shop couldn't read some modules because they need the JDM reader. I purchased a JOBD scanner on Amazon not realizing there isn't an OBD port. So if anyone has any suggestions on how to read the JDM modules it would be appreciated. I know about the pin jump to get the flashing CEL codes, but would like to have a port reader.

Read the AHC thread more. What's "shot"? Stupidly simple system if not rusty and won't ride like an old man's emu.

I also recommend retaining the AHC set-up. Is that your shop it's parked in front of or a shop you're having it serviced at?
If you're mechanically inclined, like @Rhetoric mentioned, learn the system and you'll be well armed to keep it going for many years.
If you're relying on a shop to fix it and they're not familiar with it then they'll be the first to sell you on an unnecessary conversion.

Also, If you do end up pulling that terribly dreaded AHC system out I'll be more than happy to take those gawd aweful parts off your hands and save you the hassle of having to carry out to the trash ;)

I am second in line for the parts!!!

The front rams are leaking so need to be rebuilt, the accumulators are done (not a biggie), and one of the modules just died for the pump but because it's a JDM module they can't access it via techstream unless they buy that subscription.

See below. It's got some rust and that's one of the concerns on bleeding it and damaging the lines. The alternator went out and am unable to raise the front, but it was noted on other forums that low voltage (if alt or battery aren't good) cause the pump to not activate. Pump was good. The shop it's at works on these so it's a good place to send it. The plan will be to go through all the suspension, trouble shoot the AHC and save it, if possible. But I have zero intention of dumping 4k into AHC with new rams, globes, modules, etc if it's in as "bad" a condition as it was originally looked at. I bought the lift kit for when they are under there. If the cost is too much to save the AHC, I'll have the suspension ready to drop in.

Deal! If I pull it I'll reach out to you two and pay it forward.

I've got a 98 JDM and it has and OBD port. It's deep under the dash next to the brake pedal pivot mount
Mine is a 1HDFTE though so may be different.
Here's a vid of the location

OBD Port

I use a bluetooth scantool and the Torque Pro app. With the diesels you need to enter a particular communications string into the advanced settings of the Torque Pro app. I don't know if its the same with the V8's . See if its got the port in the same location

If you can't connect you can try entering

Thanks man! I was rooting around everywhere and the PO has the usual assortment of alarms, nav, AV, and toll pass all randomly wired lol. I picked this up and hope it can tell me random things lol

If you want to take them off, I'd be interested in purchasing the seat covers from you. Is there one for the back bench too?

Can I ask how much you paid for it? Just curious because I bought my 2002 LC with exactly 200k miles for $12,000. It needed lots of work like steering rack, radiator, timing kit, etc so just curious how it compares if I went RHD instead

14k. Every suspension bushing is shot and some components need to be replaced. So I expect about 6k in parts and not sure how much in labor.
