Hi Y'all,

This month's meeting is at my house and is combined with a HAMOM. I will be replacing the rear wheel bearings on the 80. Both bearings are loose and causing tire wear problems. I had considered replacing the 100's timing belt, but decided to wait until the following weekend.

I plan to get started about 9am. Stacy will be fixing chicken and ribs for lunch (likely a few snacks too). I would kindly request a $5 donation to help pay for the meat. I'll let Greg chime in on the meeting portion, but I would recommend starting the meeting after lunch, say 1pm.

As far as the HAMOM, at a minimum, I'll be replacing the rear wheel bearings on each side. Depending on time and part condition, I might replace/rebuild the rotors, calipers, parking brakes, pads. I should be in good shape as far as tools and equipment. The only thing needed is the SST for the bearing adjuster (Jon can I borrow your's?).

If anyone has some other maintenance to do that day, you can post up and we can try to accommodate. I have a driveway big enough to work on my truck and another. Plus I have the garage.

Hope to see a big group on Sunday!

Dang it. It seems like every event here lately I have a conflict. That's the weekend (day) I'm entering my FJ45 in a car show.

I'll definitely be there Clint. Do you need any tools aside from the SST or are you all set? Are you doing any prep work Saturday?

I will not be at this one. Lily's birthday party is this weekend, so we can do GSMTR next weekend...

Good luck!

No, a few photos confirmed my original concerns, it's amazing how pictures can appear online or from a distance....vs. the requested close-ups....back to the drawing board.

Now this is dedication to a hobby......

I'll be there.... Clint are we going to be putting little Clint's winch on this time??:grinpimp:

I'll be there for at least part of the day.

Yes - Jason has it but I'll get it from him one day this week.

Thank you. Please let me know if you and Jason can't meet up and I'll make a quick and dirty home brew version if necessary. Doesn't seem like it would be to tricky to make one with some Al round stock, dowel pins, and a drill press...

I think I'm set as far as common tools (jacks, stands, wrenches, etc.). So far, the only tool other than the bearing SST is possibly a driver for the new inner axle seal (Greg, can I borrow your set?).

I'm not planning on any big prep Saturday, but I might get the truck up on the stands and start on the caliper rebuild. At the moment, I'm mainly needing to replace the bearings and seals. But, since the caliper rebuild kit is so cheap, I should do that too. At some point this summer I'll replace the rear pads and rotors (maybe Powerstop or DBA?). I want to do a bit more research on aftermarket rotors. Any suggestions?

You're more than welcome to bring your truck and we can rebuild your rear axle too. From reading the FAQ, we shouldn't have much trouble with knocking out two in a day. :D

I have a small hand crank winch (don't have the juice for an electric, lol) sitting in the back of my truck. ;) I think it would fit best on the side of the truck bed, but need to fab some sort of cover to keep Clint's fingers out of the gears. I am also looking for one or two small tow hooks for his truck...

kids are welcome ;)

David, you're definitely welcome to bring your kids, but I also understand it's a bit of a haul from SC.

I will drop off the seal drivers, and I have a few tow hooks if you really want to add them.

I will also be posting an agenda in the next day or so.

Great, or I can pick up the drivers if I make it into Cary this week. I'm serious about the tow hooks, but normal hooks are probably too much. I was thinking of something like metal rings with sheet metal brackets (saw at Northern Tool) or some sort of light duty hardware from Lowes or Home Depot.

I think you should also pick up a conduit bender and some conduit and get to work on an exo cage. I've got a 9K winch laying around is that to much winch for the gator?:eek:

Hey I might have put on a little weight in the last year but I don't think calling me round stock is fair :flipoff2::grinpimp::D:p

Clint I may try and get in touch with you to drop off some stuff Jon has asked for (and the top to Stacy's pot). It would be T-shirts and an exhaust manifold... I'll let Jon chime in if that's the route he wants to go...
