Since pretty much all of NC got smacked around by Florence and Michael, it would be a good time to have a place for ONSC member businesses, or ones they recommend to post up. Anything related to get a home back to livable, inside, or out. Would be best to say what geographic region they serve, what they offer, and any contact info you feel comfortable providing.

For example, I'm in Greensboro, and will be needing the following work done at some point in the near future.

Roof and gutter work

Siding (would prefer insulated vinyl siding.

Inspection of existing sheathing, vapor barrier and insulation on exterior walls where I had water intrusion.

Windows, some replaced, some pulled out and the frames resealed to the house (insert rolleyes here)

Someone to test for mold in exterior and interior walls (my wife has a compromised immune system, so this is a biggie)

HVAC/Heating. Both service doors were blown off my hvac and furnace, and there was water staining on top of the unit, and inside the unit. AC has a bit of a musty smell, even with new filters. There was a little bit of mildew or mold starting to form on the outer case of my humidifier (which was summerized back in April).

Some plumbing work

Drywall work, including some ceiling work

Paint work

Flooring

The trunk and heavy end of the tree for tree removal, and stump grinding for 1-3 houses on my street.

Post up if youre in the trades, the area you support, etc. Also, who you recommend, and who you DONT recommend.

Thanks,
Steve

HVAC/Heating - R&S Mechanical

We've been pretty happy with R&S Mechanical here in Garner. I believe they service the greater Raleigh area too. Their site says: Raleigh, Durham, Apex, Cary and Garner.

They've installed one unit, one system, and they service both the HVAC systems in our home. Those systems are our central AC system (for the downstairs) and the ductless mini-split (for the new upstairs). They do good work. I've only had to have them come back out once for something they did wrong. They spotted the issue and fixed it no questions asked and free of charge.

HVAC - Arnold Jones Services in High Point. Reasonably priced and works quickly. They installed a new furnace and AC 18 years ago, replaced the AC 4 years ago and a new furnace this year.

Gutters - LeafGuard is the pits. The gutters on the front of the house were bent during installation and hold water and do not drain completely. Their service/installer people are surly and difficult to work with. But I have to admit the gutters on the rear of the house work very well.

Roofing - having a new roof installed next month by Davis Roofing in High Point. All around the easiest to work with, best shingles and the most economical price of the 6 roofers I contacted.

Windows - Received 8 presentations and proposals from window companies and went with Champion. A little higher priced than I expected but the interior construction of the windows was by far the best. Also the sales with the least pressure.
